Three Raimondi MRT111 flattop tower cranes are hard at work in the Cypriot city of Limassol, assisting with the construction of the popular port city’s biggest high-end beachfront complex.
Each of the cranes has been working on the construction of the flagship Limassol Del Mar residential complex for the past two years, and they will be in use until completion of the project in the second quarter of 2021.
Upon completion, the luxurious seafront building consisting of two towers of 17 and 27 floors respectively, will offer residential apartments and commercial spaces with elite restaurants and branded fashion stores. The project represents an architectural milestone for the infrastructure sector of the island.
Raimondi official agent for Cyprus ConAgro sold the MRT111 tower cranes directly to AMIC Contractors and provided installation and post-sales assistance. The assembly and erection of each crane took place over a period of four days. Currently working with jib length ranging between 42 and 50 meters, the three MRT111s have been chosen for this jobsite thanks to their versatility in tower height and their high performance in terms of maximum load and hoist speeds.
“Due to the congested project location, as well as the necessity to avoid any interferences between cranes, the Raimondi technical department carefully evaluated the erections of the cranes as part of the site planning procedures. The Raimondi team also studied the climbing sequence of all the cranes. In addition to this, given the more than 100-meter height of the MRT111s and the inability to position the cranes near the building due to its shape, we had to design stable and resistant steel anchoring connections to ensure the firmness of the machines. Therefore, we built tie-bars approximately 15 meters long and connected them to concrete walls in order to ensure maximum cranes safety.” explained Carmine Puca, Application Engineering Manager, Raimondi Cranes.
The three MRT111 flat-top cranes have been equipped with an anti-collision system to avoid the overlapping of the crane jibs during operations. This brings higher safety to the jobsite while reducing crane-operator errors during the lifting of higher loads. This is a priority on jobsites where working is ongoing seven days a week, and where reliable, safe and efficient cranes with minimum downtime are required.
“Raimondi is proud to participate in the construction of this project, which is one of Cyprus’ most prestigious developments.” Puca added.
