Two Raimondi MRT189 flat-top tower cranes are currently onsite for the construction of a premium residential development in Nouméa, the capital of New Caledonia.
Located on a prime beachfront site, the project comprises of two 15-storey mid-rise towers featuring high-end residential units and commercial spaces.
CESP, a renowned regional rental fleet company counting 30 Raimondi heavy lifting machines within its fleet, sold two Raimondi MRT189s to GTNC, contractor of the project.
Longstanding partner of GP Mat International, official Raimondi Cranes dealer of France, CESP installed the cranes in 2023 through its specialized in-house service division, KHEOPS Equipment which oversaw assembly, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance.
The two cranes, each with a maximum lifting capacity of 10t, were both deployed with a jib length of 42.5m. Initially installed at heights of 34.5m and 48m, as the development progressed the second flat-top was climbed to reach the final heights of 60m. The MRT189 was fitted with an external climbing system to ensure uninterrupted operations and alignment with the jobsite’s vertical progress.
“Due to the tight project schedule and the specific jobsite requirements, we opted for high-performing machines that are also easy to assemble, install, and maintain,” explained Michel Willemot, General Director, KHEOPS Equipment.
The MRT189s, well-suited to high-demand urban projects, were equipped with a 45kW hoisting winch and could lift at a maximum speed up to 136 meters per minute, having a drum capacity of 660m. “This feature was essential to support the fast-paced lifting cycles required by the project,” he commented.
With construction nearing completion, one of the two cranes was recently dismantled by the KHEOPS operations team, with the second one scheduled for dismantling in the upcoming weeks.
