Ensuring safety and reliability across every jobsite

Raimondi Cranes Middle East, counting more than 200 cranes currently operating across the GCC, follows a rigorous monthly maintenance program.

The schedule is designed to prevent and detect potential issues, extend equipment lifespan, and maintain smooth operations on site.

According to the Senior Operations Manager for Raimondi Middle East, Muath Bani-Issa, the monthly procedure is structured, thorough, and aligned with both international and regional industry standards. “Our maintenance sessions involve visual inspections, lubrication, torque checks, testing of safety devices, and careful recording of all findings,” he explains.

Each crane undergoes a detailed review of both mechanical and electrical systems to guarantee performance and safety. Typically, a full maintenance session takes about two to three hours per crane.

Certain components require particular attention due to the stresses they endure. “Wire ropes, the slewing ring, brakes, hoist system, limit switches, and mast tower bolts are critical areas we monitor closely,” he notes.

These elements are essential for safe operations, and detecting wear or malfunctions early helps prevent larger (and potentially costly) problems.

Ensuring that safety systems function correctly is another central focus. The team tests limit switches, overload devices, and emergency stop mechanisms, while also verifying calibration accuracy. These checks ensure that every crane responds exactly as it should under load, boasting site safety.

“At Raimondi, regular monthly maintenance is a safeguard for the onsite construction team and a way to ensure long-term machine performance even after project’s completion,” Bani-Issa concluded.

In addition to the monthly maintenance schedule, Raimondi ensures that crane operators are fully trained to perform a daily visual inspection before starting operations. This quick, yet crucial, routine involves checking key safety and operational components and recording findings in a dedicated checklist allowing any early signs of issues to be identified and promptly addressed.

For clients, this proactive approach means fewer breakdowns, predictable operations, and greater confidence in delivery.
